But rather than just mix up some simple rumless cokes, I thought it would be more festive to make some holiday cocktails and mocktails, and see what works and what doesn’t. Because, believe it or not, you might find yourself at a holiday party one day where you won’t kill for a shot of something strong!
As promised (by Mrs McReviewface), here are the recipes for the drinks:
Gingerbread Espresso Martini
2 oz gin or gin alternative
1/2 oz gingerbread syrup
1 oz chilled espresso
Mix in a shaker with ice, pour into 90s martini glasses. Shake 1 oz of cream until frothy, and layer on top with the back of a spoon. Top with freshly grated nutmeg.
Rum and Eggnog
Glass of eggnog
Shot of rum or rum alternative.
Mix ’em, add ice if you like. Grate some nutmeg over it if you’re fancy.
Mrs McReviewface’s Pink Gin Thing
1.5 oz pink gin or alternative
1 tbsp orange juice
1.5 oz cranberry juice
Shake together over ice, pour into a glass with crushed ice. Fill to the top with ginger ale, add three cranberries and a sprig of fresh rosemary for decoration.
