Gingerbread Funeral Pyre

This gingerbread house has been sitting in my basement for a month. It was made in early December, and here we are in mind-February. It needed to go, but I couldn’t bring myself to just throw it away. I worked really hard on it!

So, I decided to give it an honourable departure with a gingerbread funereal pyre.

Yes, it was about twenty below outside, but the flames from the house kept me warm for the twenty or so minutes it took for it to burn down.

Now sadly, after so much time, the icing was a bit brittle, and many of the decorations and joints failed between where it sat in the basement, and the fire pit in my back yard. But I managed to gather all of the pieces together for the burn.

I think it was a fitting end to my lovely gingerbread house. How would you have destroyed it? Leave your suggestions below for next year’s house!
