All the cool kids are doing the Paqui #OneChipChallenge, so I thought I’d get in on the action. After all, I love spicy foods and hot sauces.
But how do you stand out in a sea of painful reaction videos? Well, I thought about it for a while, and I decided that the essence of the challenge, if you could break it down to a single word, would be “crazy”. You have to be a little bit crazy to intentionally eat this 2M+ Scoville chip, right? So, I made myself a straightjacket. Obvious, right?
The jacket serves a few purposes. First, it’s crazy. Second, it kept me from touching my eyes with spice-contaminated hands. Third, it kept me from being able to go get water or milk to tame the fire.
Did it work? To a degree, yes – but then the chip hit my stomach, and it all went to hell.
If you’re looking to take the challenge yourself, you might be out of luck for the time being. I managed to snag a chip from the Canadian side of the store last month, but it looks like even they are sold out now. Your best bet is to try to win a chip with the codes inside specially marked bags of their delicious non-killer flavours.
