Indoor Skydiving In Calgary

Thanks to my lovely wife Amy, I got to try out the newest (and as far as I can tell, the only) indoor skydiving centre in Calgary!

iFLY Calgary ( has only been open for about a month, but ever since I saw it being constructed at Deerfoot Mall, I’ve wanted to try it out. Now, it’s not cheap – a first jump is $59, and that’s if you book during non-peak times, and don’t get any of the extras, like photos ($5), videos ($10), or the High Flight ($15). Of the three, I’d suggest the video – it’s a great keepsake – and the High Flight. The High Flight is during your second freefall, when the instructor grabs you and spins you up near the top of the wind tunnel! It’s an amazing extra that’s definitely worth the price. T

he whole shebang will take you about an hour and a half, from a quick info video, suiting up, and then going into the wind tunnel with your fellow flyers. But the biggest benefits come when you compare this to skydiving, which is more expensive, less safe, not available for young kids, further away from Calgary, weather dependant, and gives you less time in free fall.

Also, I didn’t get dizzy, even during the spins. This feels less like spinning in space, and more like you’re flying in a forward direction, or hovering in space.
